Background

I am a Cartographer with over 25 years experience in the management and presentation of geographic data across many different disciplines and themes, the design of maps, and the creation of bespoke map products.

‘Jeremy Smith Trails and Mapping’ provides clients with a high quality and professional map design service.  Using industry standard technologies such as QGIS and CorelDraw, each project is undertaken through the application of a suite of solutions to meet individual client requirements. Final map products, whether for traditional print or digital media, display client’s unique information and content in creative and meaningful ways and which best suit their needs and budget.

My skill and experience in map design and the management of geographic information has been developed over many years and is informed by both recreational and professional activities. I use maps regularly for my own pursuits such as travel to remote areas, hiking and cycle touring and therefore have a keen appreciation of both useful map content and, equally, the value and importance of focused and creative design. A professional career, which has included  research in Antarctica, management of a conservation organisation in the Falkland Islands and over 20 years working within tourism and recreation industries in Ireland, has required the highest levels of attention to detail and data management which are a fundamental requirement for the delivery of projects for a diverse range of clients.
